The origin of this church is in an old hermitage that existed in this same place under the invocation of Jesus Nazareno.
If it is clear the baroque inside this church, it is even more so in the exterior, where the design of the cover remains as a clear example of the high decorative and perfectionist degree that its author, Diego Antonio Díaz, came to achieve with the use of the carved brick, a simple and versatile material that connects with the purest local tradition. In the same way, the cover is a sample of the high technical and artistic level of the Sevillian buffs of this era.
This church is the canonical seat of the Brotherhood of Jesus, Brotherhood of penance that makes its processional exit in the evening-night of Holy Wednesday of Holy Week in Loreña.
