Located next to the Churre River in the vicinity of its confluence with the Guadalquivir River, it is the primitive site of Lora, according to the local archeologist José Remesal.
The castle is what in technical terms is called a “Tell”, that is, an artificial hill formed by the accumulation of the remains left by successive generations.
The Lora’s Tell is one of the most important ones in the province; as shown by the archeological excavations carried out there, the pre-Roman remains reach a height of nine meters.
The oldest remains found correspond to the Bronze Age and may be dated between 1500 and 1000 years before Christ approximately.
